2010 Learn-to-Swim Program




 
Each summer and fall, the Roanoke Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross offers learn-to-swim lessons for both children and adults. 
Classes are available for individuals 6 months of age through adult. 
Morning and evening classes are available.
 
  • GENERAL INFORMATION   
     
    *    The lessons are free; however, there is a $20.00 non-refundable registration fee per participant. This fee will be used to offset the cost of pools, instructor wages and processing of the paperwork. This fee is due at time of registration. 
    VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, AMERICAN EXPRESS, CHECK and CASH are acceptable forms of payment.
 
  • *Water-testing is required for all new participants to the program. 

    *Adults may register without water-testing.
     
  • *You may be water-tested at any pool listed and take classes at another location.

  • *Children between the ages of 6 months and 4 years of age will automatically be enrolled in the Infant/Preschool/Parent classes. You may enroll in advance and not attend the Registration Day. Parents or designate must be in the water at all times with the child. Children are required to wear swimmer diapers. 
     
  • *All sessions will begin on October 2. Sessions will run each Saturday for six weeks. Each session will last 30 minutes.

    COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

FOR NEW PARTICIPANTS

*Water-testing is required for all new participants to the program. Participants must come prepared to get in the water and demonstrate their ability in the water, regardless of skill level.

*The times indicated are the hours registration will be held. You will only be there long enough to have your child water-tested and enroll them in the appropriate level based on skill performance.

*You may be water-tested at any pool location listed and take classes at another location.

*Adults and children ages 6 months to 4 years of age may register without water-testing.

 

FOR RETURNING PARTICIPANTS

*Select the pool location where you wish to enroll.

*Complete the Registration Form, Permission Slip and Parent Agreement. 

*Complete the Enrollment Confirmation and retain for your records. You will not be contacted unless the course that you have selected is full.
Note: Each participant must have the required forms in order to be registered. If you have three children, you will need to complete three sets of forms.

*Return the required paperwork no later than Monday, September 20 to ensure your child is enrolled in the requested course offering. Also include the $20 registration fee for each participant. Mail to the address below.

Note: Registrations are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Registrations received after the deadline may not be accepted for the requested course as the course may be at maximum size for the pre-registration period.
